Questions we get asked

What colour should tactile paving be?

Red blister paving is used at controlled crossings and buff or another contrasting colour at uncontrolled ones. The guidance sets out the details.

Is tactile paving needed at every dropped kerb?

At pedestrian crossing points, yes. Vehicle crossovers are different and should not normally have it.

Which guidance applies?

The Department for Transport’s guidance on the use of tactile paving surfaces, alongside Inclusive Mobility and local standards.
